ACTIVITIES

Peer Mentors and Young Adults meet monthly as a large group. This also allows support to be given to Peer Mentors and Young Adults until a sense of security and confidence is reached to allow friendships to grow.

Examples of group activities are, go-karting, race nights, ten-pin bowling, pizza and DVD nights. The group has also taken part in residential trips, outward-bound activities and a ‘girls’ night out in Edinburgh.

The production of a DVD about the project, demonstrating these activities and promoting the ethos of the project has recently been completed.

Between group activities, smaller groups and 1;1 activities take place such as going to concerts, cinema, shopping, circus, football matches etc.

All the activities are planned and supported after consultation with Young Adults and Peer Mentors. Immediate feed back is received by the smiles on faces, verbal comments, and eagerness to attend. On the rare occasion that activities are not successful, they are not repeated.
