PEOPLE AND ORGANISATION

Fairway Fife is an unincorporated organisation, managed by a committee of twelve volunteers, made up of parents, business professionals, three Peer Mentors and a Young Adult, all with an interest in Disability, supported by a core of Local Authority Advisors. In addition to the committee duties, members take an active role in organising events and activities, training and recruitment of Peer Mentors and fundraising.

The volunteers who actually deliver the core service are the seventeen Peer Mentors who on average volunteer 8 hours per month over a minimum of one year. They are all actively supporting 16 Young Adults (with 7 on a waiting list at the present moment). Numbers are carefully monitored to allow for quality of service rather than quantity. Fairway Fife are affiliated to Youth 1st and have adopted policies relevant to the project.

All Peer Mentors receive a mandatory two-day induction training course. Volunteers also receive training appropriate to their needs and interests e.g. Disability and Epilepsy awareness, first aid, sign-a-long etc.

Child Protection Training is given on an annual basis
